Question about Tales of Phantasia X Edition

Does anyone know if Londrine/Rondline/Rondoline affects the story in any significant way? 

I'd like to get one of the PSP Phantasias, and Cross Edition looks more appealing since it doesn't have spell freeze.  But if the overall narrative is affected badly by trying to shove a new character in, I'll go with FVE.

She does in NDX, LOL. She replaces Winona Bigford from the Phantasia novel that features Dhaos. She plays a large part in Dhaos' backstory, which makes less sense in the game than it does in the novel, but I'm told that NDX is actually a ridiculously good sequel. Haven't played it myself, so take that with a grain of salt.

As for Phantasia, she's a temporary character for a few bits and leaves your party permanently before the final boss. ...I don't actually know much about Phantasia X, I'm sorry. What I do know is she shows up once in a while and then leaves via convenient plot device designed to keep her from screwing up the story, LOL. I'm told the plot of the original game is basically the same.

But again, GRAIN OF SALT. All of this is secondhand knowledge, and because I really like what I've seen of ToPX and NDX I will readily jump to its defense, so, well, salt.

Thank you very much! Sounds like I can go with ToPX, then. If they used a plot device that blatant, then at least they were obviously working to keep a new character's presence from altering the story in any major way. I just wanted to check because I've never actually played ToP all the way through before, so I want to make sure I get something that still has all the important story parts intact.
